Westsound Home Care Training offers a 75 hour hybrid training program to become a Home Care Aide (HCA). Additional classes are available in Dementia Training, Mental Health Training, CPR, and in person Continuing Education Units (CEU's). We also offer in person skills training or refresher classes for those who are preparing for the HCA state test.
Many of Westsound Home Care Training's instructors are certified teachers or have advanced degrees in their subject areas. All HCA instructors are DSHS certified Community Instructors and are highly qualified and experienced in their fields.
Westsound Home Care Training works with students of all ages from age 17 through adult learnings (mature students). You must be 18 years old to test and become certified as an HCA in the state of Washington.
The application fee paid to the DOH is $100. The testing fee is $150 paid to Prometric.
If you ever want to work in a hospital or facility, you need to eventually become a CNA. You could start with your HCA and then take a bridge class at a later date to become a CNA. To work for Visiting Angels or any other home care agency, you can have either your HCA or CNA credential.
Home care aides are in demand. You will have many job opportunities if you pursue this fulfilling line of work.
Pay rates vary by region and are often based on job duties. A certified home care aide (HCA) can expect to be paid between $20-$23/hr with experience also coming into consideration.
