Caregivers are in demand! With a Home Care Aide certificate (HCA), you can work for a Home Care agency or Adult Family Home.
You can even start your employment while going through training. The Department of Health requires you to be certified as a Home Care Aide within 200 days of hire. The training includes 5 hours of Orientation and Safety Training, 70 hours of Core Basic and Population Specific Training including Mental Health and Dementia training. Once training is complete, you must successfully pass the Washington State HCA examination.
Hybrid Training: Our HCA training course lasts 4 weeks. Each week we meet at our training facility in Port Orchard for an 8 hour day (total hours in-class: 32 hours). The rest of your training will be completed independently by completing 43 hours of online coursework. All modules must be completed by the last class. Access to the on-line coursework is provided as part of your tuition. You will receive additional information once you have registered for the class.

Rob and Marilyn Oswald serve as co-owners and directors of Westsound Home Care. Both have had the experience of caring for their own parents at home. "We desired to have kind, compassionate and skilled caregivers for our parents. We want the same quality of caregivers for the clients we serve. We come alongside families as they navigate an often difficult season of life. We care for adults with varying levels of care needs. Some of our clients just need just a small amount of assistance, but we also care for those on hospice or who face considerable challenges and require help with multiple activities of daily living, including showering, dressing and toileting. We are pleased to offer training to our employees and those in our community who wish to become Home Care Aides. It is an honor to provide care to those we serve and we are so thankful for our hard working employees."
If you're unsure about what type of training will work best for you, just tell us a little more about your needs. We will get back to you as soon as possible with the answers you need!
